18 July 2017

Omni Capital Retail Finance (‘Omni Capital’) has been awarded the credit provider contract for Creative United’s ‘Take it away’ musical instrument finance scheme.

The milestone acquisition by the lender from the previous provider, will facilitate the introduction of over 156 retailers; and marks the continuation of a busy year for the lender who recently announced a partnership with National Game Fair Limited.

Take it away aims to encourage more young people to get involved in music by offering interest free loans for the purchase of musical instruments. The scheme is publicly funded and supported by the Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Omni Capital will take over as the scheme’s credit provider on 1st August 2017.

Since its launch in 2007, more than 80,000 customers have utilised the facility through participating member retailers. To date, Take it away has helped finance the purchase of in excess of £60m worth of musical instruments.

Mary-Alice Stack, CEO of Creative United said of the announcement “We know that the upfront costs of buying a musical instrument can present a real barrier for many people, and that’s something that we wanted to change. Thanks to the support of Arts Council England, Take it away has been hugely successful in reducing this financial barrier making it possible for many thousands more people to get involved in learning and playing music. We are delighted to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the scheme by announcing our partnership with Omni Capital Retail Finance who we look forward very much to working with over the next 4 years to make Take it away even bigger and better.”

Michael Bevan, Managing Director of Omni Capital commented “we are delighted to be working with the team at Creative United to enhance the Take it away scheme. Our fresh and simple approach to point-of-sale finance, alongside our sophisticated credit technology will ensure that the scheme continues to accomplish its social objectives”.
